Soul mates???

I recently heard from one of my friends that she "fell in love". Yes, majority of the people fall in love. Lucky are the ones who "rise in love". And people increasingly use 'I am in a relationship', rather than 'I am in love'.
These are the oxford dictionary definition of love:

  • a strong feeling of affection
  • a strong feeling of affection and sexual attraction for someone
  • affectionate greetings conveyed to someone on one's behalf
  • a formula for ending an affectionate letter

I have read in some philosophical work that human beings desire to be loved because they want a soul mate. Soul mate is the one who will act as a complimentary soul. In simple terms, If I find my soul mate, he will have the strengths which I dont have and will support me when I am weak. Similarly, I will have the strengths which he doesnt have and I will support him in his need. But unfortunately, the book says that 99% of the people fail to find their soul mate.
If everybody could find their soul mate, the world could have been a beautiful place to live in, and nobody need to shed any tears. A person to hold hand with confidence at any point of time, a person who understands you, someone with whom you dont have to argue or fight with for the love you deserve... Beautiful idea! But its not possible beyond an extend. How ever, life can be beutiful when you look in to the eyes of the person you love and realie that he/ she is ready to accept you with all your shortcomings.
